Compilation, dated February 19, 1652 in Mexico City, of documents from 1613-1652, pertaining to Juan de Zúñiga's petition for special exemptions and privileges for his son, Alonso Pérez de Zúñiga y Ontiveros. On Feb. 15, 1652, Juan de Zúñiga petitions the king for special privileges for his son Alonso, who is about to leave for Spain as a soldier in the company of Don Tomás de la Varrera. Alonso is Juan's second son, and next in line to the eldest son, Cristóbal, to inherit the mayorazgo. Documents include statements of numerous witnesses who testify on behalf of Alonso, attesting to his legitimate birth; the legitimacy of the marriage of his parents, Juan de Zúñiga Ceballos and Bernardina de Ontiveros; his noble ancestors on both sides and their extensive merits and services to the Crown as conquistadores and early settlers of New Spain; and his purity of blood, untainted by Moorish or Jewish connections. The texts of other earlier documents included in the compilation also support Juan's petition for his son Alonso, such as the royal decree of Philip III of November 1613, establishing the mayorazgo of 3000 pesos annually for Alonso's grandfather, Alonso Pérez de Zúñiga and his wife Leonor de Castro Ceballos of Cuautitlán; and the proceedings from 1636, establishing the nobility status of Alonso's father, Juan de Zúñiga Ceballos. The copies are signed by the clerk Miguel Pérez Lozano.
